Vented Gas/Electric Dryers
Frequently-used appliances are prone to wear and tear. Here are some common Gas/Electric Dryers issues:
Gas/Electric Dryer is not turning on or not starting
This may be caused by power supply issues, such as a tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse. It may also be attributed to faulty or loose electrical connections, or a defective door sensor that detects if the door is closed.
Gas/Electric Dryer is not heating
For this it may be helpful to check whether there’s a malfunctioning thermostat or thermal fuse preventing the dryer from reaching the desired temperature. In some cases it could be a clogged venting system, restricting proper airflow and causing the dryer to overheat.
Gas/Electric Dryer is not spinning or tumbling
Check if the dryer has a broken or worn-out drive belt, preventing the drum from rotating. It may also be that the motor capacitor is faulty, or that there are foreign objects clogging the drum. Sometimes it may be as simple as the machine having excessive load.
Gas/Electric Dryer is making unusual noises
It would be worth checking if the drum rollers are worn out, need lubrication, or replacement. A loose or damaged drive belt may also be the cause, or small objects like coins or buttons may be stuck inside the drum.
Gas/Electric Dryer is not drying clothes properly
When loading, check that ]the dryer isn’t overloaded as this hampers air circulation. If the machine isn’t overloaded but clothes are still damp after a cycle, there may be clogged or restricted venting system preventing proper airflow. Another possibility is that the moisture sensor or thermostat is damaged.
